GoldieBlox

Script, Direction, Hiring, Casting

I was recruited to translate the tabletop cooking show format into an educational kids’ YouTube series for GoldieBlox, a toy company and studio on a mission to inspire the next generation of innovators.

I was given a title and concept, a shoestring budget, and rapid turnaround time. I wrote six episodes that could be shot from a single angle, rallied and directed a team of in-house and freelance talent, and made pizza magic happen faster than you can count to 10.

Our heroine Ada is an aspiring content creator who decides to blog about her pizza business. In Episode One, she uses fractions to successfully avoid a meltdown by one of her customers: an intense unicorn named Nancy.

A show about pizza and math couldn’t not talk about Pi. This episode featured integrated media sponsorship with Paramount Pictures and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which we wove into the story and the pizza toppings.

The series aimed to inspire confidence in math and in life. Case in point: This episode teaches geometry principles through the story of a snake named Mr. Hiss, who longs for connection and stuggles with feeling misunderstood.
