Editorial Direction, Interviewing, Copy
Roles: Copywriter + Content Strategist
TEAM: Tumblr Creatrs
Tumblr Creatrs, a global artists agency and in-house creative lab, brought me in to lead editorial and copy for special projects with a social progress lens, including the #ArtHerstory initiative for Women’s History Month, and live coverage of the It’s On Us campaign against sexual assault at the White House.
SPOTLIGHT: #ArtHerstory
I interviewed six history-making women about their unique approaches to leadership and the driving forces behind their work. I crafted interview questions to get the heart of each woman’s story, then edited their responses to highlight resonant points for the Tumblr audience.
Each interview was paired with original artwork by Tumblr Creatrs, and key quotes were shared on the women’s social accounts and across all Tumblr channels.

My mother used to tell me, “You may be the first to do many things, but make sure you’re not the last.” I feel a responsibility to show young women what’s possible, and to mentor them to own their power and fulfill their promise.

You’re at the helm of the nation’s largest reproductive-rights organization during arguably the most politically fraught period it’s ever faced. How do you remain steadfast in your mission?
I have such admiration for health center staff and doctors all across the country who go to work every day. Many of them walk through protesters just to get into work and provide care for patients. That’s what keeps me centered. Reproductive health care should be a right for everyone—regardless of their income, their zip code, gender, you name it. It’s possible because of the courage and commitment of reproductive health care providers. They define care, no matter what.

There is power in stories that are being told by trans people. After many years of living in fear, I realized that I needed to honor the fullness of my personhood, to be seen as the woman that I am, and to be proud of all the things that I’ve gone through.
